Two cases of Pseudomonas aeruginosa neonatal meningitis are reported. Case 1 occurred on day 6 of life, at home, in a full term newborn. Favourable outcome was obtained with a treatment associating ceftazidime, 21 days, gentamicin, 10 days and ciprofloxacin, 10 days.

Despite many advances in perinatal medicine, bronchopulmonary dysplasia still frequently occurs in very premature infants. The very fragile lungs of these infants therefore have to be protected from birth. The protective strategies consist in applying positive expiratory pressure immediately, and using exogenous surfactant in a prophylactic or early use approach.

Objectives: Nosocomial rotavirus infections induce difficult problems for pediatric wards during winter epidemics. This prospective study was carried out to measure their incidence in a general pediatric ward by using epidemiological tools, clinical and molecular methods, and to examine the main factors increasing the risk of cross contamination.

Background: Fluoroquinolones have not received administrative authorization for use in children, but because of multiresistant pathogens in neonatal intensive care, floroquinolones may be the only alternative.

Case Report: A premature infant exclusively nourished by parenteral nutrition developed enterobacteria sepsis. Ceftazidine was given initially but resistance led to the prescription of fluoroquinolone.
