The inferior wall of the right ventricle was studied to determine the optimal site of implantation of epicardial pacing electrodes. The hearts of 10 patients without cardiac disease, aged 57 to 84 years, who died in Broussais hospital, were studied. The hearts were washed, weighed (300 to 550 g) and placed in a formol solution to which was added half its volume of Larsen's solution.

Suppression of renin secretion by insulin: dependence on extracellular calcium.

The isolated perfused rat kidney was used to examine the effect of insulin on renin release (RR). Insulin produced a dose-dependent reduction of RR when added to the perfusate at concentrations between 10 and 1,000 microU/ml. When kidneys were perfused with a calcium-free perfusate, RR increased nearly fivefold.
