Serrated polyposis syndrome (SPS) is characterized by the development of multiple colorectal serrated polyps and increased predisposition to colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the molecular basis of SPS, especially in cases presenting family history of SPS and/or polyps and/or CRC in first-degree relatives (SPS-FHP/CRC), is still poorly understood. In a previous study, we proposed the existence of two molecular entities amongst SPS-FHP/CRC families, proximal/whole-colon and distal SPS-FHP/CRC, according to the preferential location of lesions and somatic events involved in tumor initiation.

Pleomorphic lipomas are infrequent soft tissue tumours with pseudosarcomatous behaviour. Their polymorphism provides them certain characteristics that may resemble malignancy, which may mislead the initial diagnosis. The presented case report is a 45-year-old man with a giant growing tumour on the left cervicoscapular region initially categorised as a liposarcoma by magnetic resonance with a final confirmed diagnosis of pleomorphic lipoma after the surgical resection and the examination of the pathologist.

Grapes' infection by phytopathogenic fungi may often lead to rot and impair the quality and safety of the final product. Due to the concerns associated with the extensive use of chemicals to control these fungi, including their toxicity for environment and human health, bio-based products are being highly preferred, as eco-friendlier and safer alternatives. Specifically, yeasts have shown to possess antagonistic activity against fungi, being promising for the formulation of new biocontrol products.
