Purpose/objective: The present review examined the evidence for a potentially bidirectional association between mobility function and cognitive function in midlife and older adulthood.

Research Method/design: In 2023-2024, we conducted a scoping review by carrying out systematic searches on Google Scholar, PubMed, and PsycINFO for articles that included measures of mobility function and cognitive function.

Results: Of the 1,504 articles screened, 40 were included for review.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the limited wellbeing research in individuals with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) and aims to identify challenges they face that are often overlooked in traditional mental health assessments.
  • In 2021, 288 adults with CMT participated in an online survey that included both established and new measures, followed by open-ended responses regarding their experiences.
  • The thematic analysis revealed nine significant challenges related to CMT, with anxiety, coping with loss of function, and difficulty finding knowledgeable healthcare providers being the most prevalent, highlighting the need for improved research and clinical practices.

Objectives: The present research examined associations between stroke and long-term trajectories of loneliness.

Methods: We conducted secondary analyses in 3 large representative panel studies of adults 50 years and older in the United States, Europe, and Israel: the English Longitudinal Study of Aging (ELSA; analytic N = 14,992); the Survey of Health, Aging, and Retirement in Europe (SHARE; analytic N = 103,782); and the Health and Retirement Study (HRS; analytic N = 22,179). Within each sample, we used discontinuous growth curve modeling to estimate loneliness trajectories across adulthood and the impact of stroke on loneliness trajectories.

Introduction: The relationship between critical care mortality and combined impact of malglycemia remains undefined.

Methods: We assessed the risk-adjusted relationship (n = 4790) between hospital mortality with malglycemia, defined as hypergycemia (hours Glycemic Ratio ≥ 1.1, where GR is quotient of mean ICU blood glucose (BG) and estimated average BG), absolute hypoglycemia (hours BG < 70 mg/dL) and relative hypoglycemia (excursions GR < 0.
