Advances in, and prospects of, 3D preclinical models for skin drug discovery.

The skin has an important role in regulating homeostasis and protecting the body from endogenous and exogenous microenvironments. Although 3D models for drug discovery have been extensively studied, there is a growing demand for more advanced 3D skin models to enhance skin research. The use of these advanced skin models holds promise across domains such as cosmetics, skin disease treatments, and toxicity testing of new therapeutics.

Efficacy of Alum-Adjuvanted Peptide and Carbohydrate Conjugate Vaccine Candidates against Group A Pharyngeal Infection in a Non-Human Primate Model.

Vaccine development against group A (GAS) has gained traction in the last decade, fuelled by recognition of the significant worldwide burden of the disease. Several vaccine candidates are currently being evaluated in preclinical and early clinical studies. Here, we investigate two conjugate vaccine candidates that have shown promise in mouse models of infection.

Diagnostic utility of C-methionine PET/CT in primary hyperparathyroidism in a UK cohort: A single-centre experience and literature review.

Objective: Primary hyperparathyroidism is a common endocrine disorder, with 80% of all cases usually caused by one single hyperfunctioning parathyroid adenoma. Conventional imaging modalities for the diagnostic work-up of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) include ultrasound of the neck, 99mTc-sestamibi scintigraphy, and four-dimensional computed tomography (4D-CT). However, the role of other imaging modalities, such as 11C-methionine PET/CT, in the care pathway for PHPT is currently unclear.

Increasing stability of a native freshwater fish assemblage following flow rehabilitation.

Stream restorations are increasingly critical for managing and recovering freshwater biodiversity in human-dominated landscapes. However, few studies have quantified how rehabilitative actions promulgate through aquatic communities over decades. Here, a long-term dataset is analyzed for fish assemblage change, incorporating data pre- and post-restoration periods, and testing the extent to which native assemblage stability has increased over time.
