Purpose: This study evaluated beam quality and radiation dosimetry of a CT scanner equipped with a novel detector and filtration technology called PureVision Optics (PVO). PVO features miniaturized electronics, a detector cut with microblade technology, and increased filtration in order to increase x-ray detection and reduce image noise.
Methods: We assessed the performance of two similar 320-detector CT scanners: one equipped with PVO and one without.
Introduction: Airway epithelial cells play a central role in the innate immune response to invading bacteria, yet adequate human infection models are lacking.
Methods: We utilized mucociliary-differentiated human airway organoids with direct access to the apical side of epithelial cells to model the initial phase of respiratory tract infection.
Results: Immunofluorescence of infected organoids revealed that invades the epithelial barrier and subsequently proliferates within the epithelial space.
Pink pepper essential oil was microencapsulated with chickpea protein (CP) and chickpea protein/pectin (CP-HMP) by spray drying. The reconstitution and storage properties of the powders were evaluated after drying. The impact of microencapsulation in the volatiles release, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of oil was evaluated during 135 days of storage.
