Background: Children and young people (CYP) with acquired brain injury (ABI) require early and effective neurorehabilitation to improve long-term functional outcomes. Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS), including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), have been used to improve motor and sensory skills for children with cerebral palsy. The elder sister had a relapsing-remitting course with optic nerve dysfunction and died during a relapse from respiratory insufficiency. The younger sister presented with disorientation and acute-onset limb and facial weakness.

Background: The frequency of nodal-paranodal antibodies in HIV-infected patients with chronic immune-mediated radiculo-neuropathies (IMRN) has not been previously described.
Methods: HIV-infected patients who met the inclusion criteria for chronic IMRN were screened for immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies directed against nodal (neurofascin (NF)186) and paranodal (NF155, contactin-1 (CNTN1) and contactin-associated protein(Caspr1)) cell adhesion molecules, using a live, cell-based assay. To explore potential pathogenicity, binding of human IgG to myelinated co-cultures was assessed by incubation with patients' sera positive for nodal or paranodal antibodies.

Objective: To systematically answer what the TMS intervention effects are on motor function in children with ABI as reported in the literature.
There is limited literature comparing the clinical parameters and treatment outcomes in HIV-infected and HIV-uninfected myasthenia gravis (MG) patients. The aim of the study was to investigate the clinical differences and treatment outcomes in the two categories of patients, particularly the safe use of immunosuppressive therapy in immunocompromised patients. The study was a retrospective analysis of medical records of MG patients from the neuromuscular unit at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Kwa-Zulu Natal between 2003 and 2019.
