Liver regeneration is a crucial process involved in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and tissue repair. Calcium signaling impact key pathways like hepatocyte growth factor-Met-tyrosine kinase (HGF-Met) transduction pathway, the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling and Ca-mediated nuclear SKHep1 cell proliferation pathway. Intracellular hepatocyte calcium stores are considered as base for the induction of ca-mediated regeneration process.

Aim: The study aims to test the hypothesis that concentrations of adropin and afamin differ between patients in various stages of chronic kidney disease when compared with healthy controls. The study also investigates the association of the biomarkers (adropin and afamin) with CKD-MBD and traditional cardiovascular risk parameters in CKD patients.

Methodology: The cross-sectional study includes the subjects divided into four groups comprising the control group (healthy volunteers = 50), CKD stages 1-2 patients ( = 50), CKD stages 3-4 patients ( = 50), CKD stage 5 patients ( = 50).

Background: While much research has addressed mental health concerns related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, there remains a scarcity of studies specifically exploring the changes in anxiety and depression among university students before and after the implementation of COVID-19 mitigation measures.

Methods: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched databases including MEDLINE (Ovid), EMBASE (Ovid), PsycINFO (Ovid), CINAHL (EBSCO), ERIC (EBSCO), the WHO COVID-19 database, Scopus, and Science Citation Index (Web of Science) as of 15 February 2023. We included studies that used a validated tool to measure changes in anxiety or depression at two distinct time points - before (T1) and during (T2); during (T2) and after (T3); or before (T1) and after (T3) COVID-19 mitigation.

Objectives: Recently, it was noted that fetuses with open spina bifida (OSB) may have a midline cystic structure evident on ultrasound. Our aims were to determine the prevalence of this cystic structure, shed light on its pathophysiology and investigate the association between its presence and other characteristic brain findings in fetuses with OSB.

Methods: This was a single-center retrospective study of all fetuses with OSB and available cineloop images in the axial plane referred to the Ontario Fetal Centre, Toronto, Canada, between June 2017 and May 2022.
