A Spectrally Interrogated Polarimetric Optical Fiber Sensor for Current Measurement with Temperature Correction.

We report on a study of the temperature dependence of the response of a BSO crystal based polarimetric current sensor with spectral interrogation. Two possible interrogation schemes are discussed. The spectral dependence of the optical rotation along the crystal caused by temperature and current changes is investigated, and approximate dependences for the sensitivities to current and temperature are derived.

Screening and characterization of β-galactosidase activity in lactic acid bacteria for the valorization of acid whey.

β-Galactosidase is an enzyme produced by some strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) commonly found in dairy products; however, industrial demand for these enzymes is still low. Acid whey (AW), a lactose-rich byproduct, has large output from cottage cheese and remains unexploited. The purpose of this study was to understand the production mechanism of β-galactosidase from LAB using AW as a culture medium.

Clinical and electromyographic examinations of patients with tremor after chronic occupational lead exposure.

In clean rooms of the system of electronics are carried out work-physiological examinations on two basic professional groups--working in photolithography and operators. At the end of the workings day a considerable prolongation of the sensomotor reactions and deterioration of the dynamometric indices, characterizing the functional status of the neuro-muscular system were found. The time for performing the complex sensomotor reactions (choice of reaction) remains unchanged.
