Background: Vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT) is a relatively well-established microsurgical treatment for lymphedema that is especially beneficial for advanced cases in which lymphovenous anastomosis is not indicated due to lymphatic vessel sclerosis. When VLNT is performed without a skin paddle, such as a buried flap, the possibilities for postoperative monitoring are limited. The aim of our study was to evaluate the use of ultra-high-frequency color Doppler ultrasound with 3D reconstruction in a pedicled axillary lymph node flap.

Aqueous solutions of some polymers exhibit a lower critical solution temperature (LCST); that is, they form phase-separated aggregates when heated above a threshold temperature. Such polymers found many promising (bio)medical applications, including in situ thermogelling with controlled drug release, polymer-supported radiotherapy (brachytherapy), immunotherapy, and wound dressing, among others. Yet, despite the extensive research on medicinal applications of thermoresponsive polymers, their biodistribution and fate after administration remained unknown.

Some patients may be susceptible to allergic reaction to the iodine contrast substance. The intravenous injection of a bolus of CO (negative contrast) is an alternative method, which is, however, currently only used for imaging blood vessels of the lower limbs.

Recently, new treatment strategies inducing lymphangiogenesis were proposed. The aim of our study was to examine the effect of vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C) and adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) on lymphatic regeneration and drainage re-establishment in vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT) model using a pedicled vascularized lymph node (VLN) groin flap.

We investigated the properties of polypyrrole nanoparticles, which considerably enhance contrast in photoacoustic images, in relation to the synthesis procedure and to their size. We prepared polypyrrole nanoparticles by water-based redox precipitation polymerization in the presence of ammonium persulphate (ratio Py:Oxi 1:0.
