Recurrent Stress Cardiomyopathy: A Rare Variant in a Young Patient with Undiagnosed Pheochromocytoma.

Biventricular stress cardiomyopathy is one of several known anatomical variants of reversible cardiomyopathies to occur. We present a case of a young patient with recurrent stress cardiomyopathy complicated by cardiogenic shock in the perioperative period. The cardiomyopathy observed was in a patient with neurofibromatosis type I and undiagnosed pheochromocytoma who presented for intervention of hydrocephalus.

Surgical preparation of nasal defects to enhance the implant-retained facial prostheses: A case report.

Background: Skin cancers requiring nasal resection may be surgically reconstructed and/or prosthetically reconstructed. Singular surgical reconstruction may be ideal for smaller defects in which the nasal bone and cartilaginous portions of the nose are maintained, but surgical reconstruction falls short of providing acceptable aesthetic results for more extensive nasal defects. Prosthetic rehabilitation, or a combination of surgical and prosthetic rehabilitation, is more appropriate for larger defects, but prosthesis retention can be challenging when adhesives are required on adjacent mobile and secreting skin.

Evaluation of the plaque removal efficacy of two commercially available dental floss devices.

Objective: This single blind, crossover design, clinical trial provided a comparative assessment of the oral cleaning of two dental devices as demonstrated through the removal of dental plaque when used according to marketed product-use directions.

Methodology: Twenty-six subjects, both male and female between the ages of 19 and 64 years, completed this two-cell crossover study. Subjects were assessed for whole mouth plaque levels, both before and after use of each of the randomly assigned floss devices, by assessing disclosed plaque using the Modified Turesky Plaque Index.

Digital imaging in the fabrication of ocular prostheses.

Several ocular and orbital disorders require surgical intervention that may result in ocular defects. The associated psychological effect of these defects on the patient requires immediate management and rehabilitation intervention by a team of specialists. The role of the maxillofacial prosthodontist in fabricating an ocular prosthesis with acceptable esthetics to restore facial symmetry and normal appearance for the anophthalmic patient becomes essential.
