Purpose: Cardiovascular health disparities are present in African Americans, but it remains unknown whether this phenomenon affects Somali Americans. Study of Somali Americans is warranted due to distinct genetic and cultural differences from African Americans of western African ancestry. Orthostatic hemodynamic responses have implications for cardiovascular risk, especially among African American females.

Introduction: While many deep learning systems (DLSs) for diabetic retinopathy (DR) have been developed and validated on cohorts with an average age of 50s or older, fewer studies have examined younger individuals. This study aimed to understand DLS performance for younger individuals, who tend to display anatomic differences, such as prominent retinal sheen. This sheen can be mistaken for exudates or cotton wool spots, and potentially confound DLSs.

Introduction: Hypotension is a frequent complication of patients who are on chronic maintenance hemodialysis. Midodrine is an alpha-1 adrenergic agonist used to treat patients on hemodialysis who have chronic hypotensiom. The aim of our study was to evaluate if patients who required midodrine for hypotension had inferior outcomes compared to those who did not require midodrine.

Intraorbital foreign bodies (IOFBs) are a recognised complication of orbital trauma, but intraorbital wooden foreign bodies are rare and pose significant diagnostic and management challenges due to their radiolucency, high risk of infection and potential for severe inflammation. This case describes a rare presentation of a young boy who sustained orbital trauma after an 8-foot fall, resulting in a 5 cm × 3 cm wooden IOFB extending to the orbital apex with an associated sphenoid fracture. He presented with proptosis, an inferotemporal scleral indentation mimicking retinal detachment and a lateral infraorbital laceration.

Antioxidants, cysteamine and melatonin, have an important role on mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨM), in vitro nuclear maturation and developmental competence of oocytes. A comprehensive study was planned to investigate the effect of cysteamine 50 µM and melatonin 10 mol L as antioxidants on ΔΨM, in vitro nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovum pick up (OPU) derived Sahiwal Cow oocytes. Culturable grade OPU derived Sahiwal oocytes were divided in to three in vitro maturation groups cultured in TCM-199 supplemented with cysteamine 50 µM, melatonin 10 mol L and TCM-199 alone, for assessing nuclear maturation by Lamin/ DAPI and developmental competence of oocytes.
