The relationship between subjective cognitive decline and cognitive leisure activity engagement: A systematic review.

Background And Objectives: Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) is a common experience of self-perceived decline without objective cognitive impairment. It has been theorised that SCD is associated with participation in cognitive leisure activities (CLA), but the evidence base is multifarious and unclear. The purpose of this systematic review was to synthesize current evidence to determine the association between SCD and CLA engagement.

The comprehensibility continuum: a novel method for analysing comprehensibility of patient reported outcome measures.

Purpose: Evidence of comprehensibility is frequently required during the development of patient reported outcome measures (PROMs); the respondent's interpretation of PROM items needs to align with intended meanings. Cognitive interviews are recommended for investigating PROM comprehensibility, yet guidance for analysis is lacking. Consequently, the quality and trustworthiness of cognitive interview data and analysis is threatened, as there is no clear procedure detailing how analysts can systematically, and consistently, identify evidence that respondent interpretations align/misalign with intended meanings.

Child and family characteristics associated with verbal communication difficulties in adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Background: Verbal communication difficulties are associated with a range of adolescent and adult outcomes in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Yet there is limited information about contextual factors associated with verbal communication difficulties beyond early childhood, and how youth with ASD compare to youth with other developmental disabilities (DD).

Aims: The current study examined verbal communication difficulties among adolescents with ASD and other DD, and child and family characteristics associated with these difficulties in later in life.

Outcomes of Gastroschisis and Omphalocele Treated at Children's Surgery Verified Centers in Texas.

Introduction: Anterior abdominal wall defects (AWDs), such as gastroschisis or omphalocele, are often diagnosed prenatally and counseled to deliver at facilities with resources capable of managing their AWD and complex-associated anomalies. The American College of Surgeons instituted their Children's Surgery Verification (CSV) program to identify facilities with the optimal resources for pediatric surgical care. We aimed to evaluate the impact of CSV status on the outcomes of AWD and potential health disparities in the care of AWD in the first year of life in Texas.

Deriving a Preference-Weighted Measure for People With Hypoglycemia From the Hypo-RESOLVE QoL.

Objectives: Hypoglycemia affects the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of people living with diabetes (PwD), and existing preference-weighted measures do not capture all important aspects. The study aimed to generate a preference-weighted measure capturing the HRQoL impact of hypoglycemia in PwD.

Methods: Items for the health-state classification system were selected from the hypoglycemia-specific Hypo-RESOLVE QoL measure using relevance in cognitive interviews, translatability, suitability for valuation, endorsement by patient advisors and experts, and psychometric performance in a large survey of PwD.
