This article presents a study on the functional properties and morphology of coatings based on amorphous silicon oxycarbide modified with phosphate ions and comodified with aluminum and boron. The objective of this modification was to enhance the biocompatibility and bioactivity without affecting its protective properties. The comodification was aimed toward stabilization of phosphate in the structure.

The titanium-bearing (up to 3.31 wt% TiO) hydrous andradite [CaNaKFe][Fe AlTiFeMgVMn]SiO(OH) was identified within intensely altered and weathered pyroclastic rocks in the Sierra de Bahoruco region in the Dominican Republic. It forms small isolated euhedral crystals, infillings of fissures and fractures, and large polycrystalline aggregates, in close paragenesis with clinochlore and calcite.

The synthesis and characterization of iron oxide nanostructures, specifically snowflake architecture, are investigated for their potential applications in electrochemical sensing systems. A Raman spectroscopy analysis reveals phase diversity in the synthesized powders. The pH of the synthesis affects the formation of the hematite (α-FeO) and goethite (α-FeOOH).

The presented research is the seed of a vision for the development of a waste-for-product strategy. Following this concept, various synthetic solutions containing low concentrations of platinum group metals were used to model their recovery and to produce catalysts. This is also the first report that shows the method for synthesis of a pyramid-like structure deposited on activated carbon composed of Pd and Pt.
