View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: To analyze the correlation between scores obtained on the 25 scales and vectors of the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) and academic test results obtained in various subjects by the same students in the first three years of the six-year medical curriculum at Monash University.
Method: The study participants were 133 students who commenced their medical education in 1990 or 1991 and completed their third year in 1993. The student took the CPI in their first year.
The Faculty of Medicine at Monash University has decided to take personal qualities as appraised by semi-structured interviews into account alongside academic merit for selection of undergraduate students. To develop competence in these techniques the Faculty interviewed entrants, rather than applicants, in 1991 and 1992. Interviewing panels consist of three members--a member of the Faculty of Medicine, a member of the association of Monash Medical Graduates Inc.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe pharmacokinetics, tissue distribution, cell localization, and penetration into tumor xenografts of recombinant [35S]methionine-labeled human alpha interferon (HuIFN-alpha) and murine alpha interferon (MuIFN-alpha) were examined in mice. Both interferons (IFNs) were removed from the blood in a rapid biphasic manner; HuIFN-alpha was cleared faster than MuIFN-alpha. Tissues were analyzed for radioactivity and over 90% of the IFNs was accounted for.
