Rubisco is the primary CO-fixing enzyme of the biosphere, yet it has slow kinetics. The roles of evolution and chemical mechanism in constraining its biochemical function remain debated. Engineering efforts aimed at adjusting the biochemical parameters of rubisco have largely failed, although recent results indicate that the functional potential of rubisco has a wider scope than previously known.

Chronic inflammation is a major characteristic of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and is closely related to the mechanisms of cancer development. Persistent inflammatory responses can lead to DNA damage, gene mutations, and abnormal cell proliferation, all of which may increase the risk of cancer. We also explore the use of biologic therapy of AS and their potential cancer risks.

Outside acoustic communication, little is known about how animals coordinate social turn taking and how the brain drives engagement in these social interactions. Using Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens), we discover dynamic visual features of an opponent and behavioral sequences that drive visually driven turn-taking aggressive behavior. Lesions of the telencephalon show that it is unnecessary for coordinating turn taking but is required for persistent participation in aggressive interactions.

This study uses the Oracle SQL certification exam questions to explore the design of automatic classifiers for exam questions containing code snippets. SQL's question classification assigns a class label in the exam topics to a question. With this classification, questions can be selected from the test bank according to the testing scope to assemble a more suitable test paper.
