Coronavirus HKU1 infection and development of pediatric acute liver failure with immune dysregulation phenotype.

Pediatric acute liver failure is a rare but serious complication of Coronavirus infections. Our patient is a previously healthy 8-year-old male who presented with acute liver failure in the setting of human coronavirus HKU1 (HCoV-HKU1) infection while asymptomatic from a respiratory perspective. During the hospital course, he developed acute hepatic encephalopathy and was listed for liver transplantation, but fortunately recovered remaining status 7 (inactive) on the transplant list.

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided liver biopsy using a 22-G fine needle biopsy needle: a prospective study.

Background: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided liver biopsy (EUS-LB) using a 19-gauge (19-G) EUS needle is becoming increasingly popular. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of a 22-G EUS fine needle biopsy (FNB) needle for performing EUS-LB.

Methods: Patients referred for evaluation of elevated liver enzymes and without obstructive disease requiring endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) were included.

Does a uterine manipulator affect cervical cancer pathology or identification of lymphovascular space involvement?

Objective: Uterine manipulators are a useful adjunct for robotic-assisted radical hysterectomy (RARH), but some surgeons avoid their use for fear of altering pathology or interpretation of lymphovascular space involvement (LVSI). We retrospectively compared clinico-pathological data and tumor pathology from patients with cervical cancer operated by laparotomy vs. RARH.

Anastomosing hemangioma with fatty changes of the genitourinary tract: a lesion mimicking angiomyolipoma.

Anastomosing hemangioma of the genitourinary tract is a recently described vascular lesion of the kidneys and testes. Although these lesions can occur in the renal hilum with infiltration of the hilar adipose tissue, the presence of adipocytes in this type of vascular tumor has not been reported. We described a case of an anastomosing hemangioma associated with fatty changes of the stromal component in a 59-year-old female patient.

Pituitary carcinoma: an ultrastructural study of eleven cases.

Pituitary carcinomas are very rare. Defined as adenohypophysial tumors that undergo craniospinal and/or systemic metastasis, most are PRL- or ACTH-producing. Their ultrastructural features, particularly relative to benign adenomas of similar functional type, have not been sufficiently explored.
