Transient stress-related paranoia is the descriptive definition of psychotic phenomena associated with borderline personality disorder. Although psychotic symptoms usually do not qualify patients for a separate diagnosis in the psychotic spectrum, statistical probabilities predict the co-occurrence of cases with comorbid borderline personality disorder and major psychotic disorder. This article presents three perspectives on a complex case of borderline personality disorder and psychotic disorder: one from a medication prescribing psychiatrist who is a transference-focused psychotherapist responsible for care, one from the anonymous patient, and one from a specialist in psychotic disorder.

One of the most useful, most versatile, and easiest to collect types of biological data are photographs, particularly those that are connected with geographic location and date-time metadata. Photos verify occurrence records, provide data on phenotypes and ecology, and are often used to illustrate new species descriptions, field guides and identification keys, as well as in training humans and computer vision algorithms to identify snakes.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFNo central online repository exists for the collection of animal images; hence it remains unclear how extensively species have been illustrated in the published literature or online. Here we compiled a list of more than 8000 reptile species (out of 11,341) that have photos in one of six popular online repositories, namely iNaturalist (6,349 species), the Reptile Database (5,144), Flickr (4,386), CalPhotos (3,071), Wikimedia (2,952), and Herpmapper (2,571). These sites have compiled over one million reptile photos, with some species represented by tens of thousands of images.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFContemporary nursing education is highly invested in the development of the academic, critical, and empirical aspects of education that represent the science of nursing, and concomitantly less attentive to the development of the creative, interpersonal aspects of education typically associated with the art of nursing. This represents a reversal of historic patterns in nursing education, but the pendulum may have swung so far that there could be costs to nursing practice unless the creative, interpersonal aspects of education can be reclaimed and balanced. Ideas and suggestions regarding how nurse educators might foster the creation of cultures of thinking, which represent whole-brain, integrated teaching approaches that are based on emerging neurocognitive evidence, are discussed.
