Capturing the fusion of two ancestries and kinship structures in Merovingian Flanders.

The Merovingian period (5th to 8th cc AD) was a time of demographic, socioeconomic, cultural, and political realignment in Western Europe. Here, we report the whole-genome shotgun sequence data of 30 human skeletal remains from a coastal Late Merovingian site of Koksijde (675 to 750 AD), alongside 18 remains from two Early to Late Medieval sites in present-day Flanders, Belgium. We find two distinct ancestries, one shared with Early Medieval England and the Netherlands, while the other, minor component, reflecting likely continental Gaulish ancestry.

Anesthesia Depresses Cerebrovascular Reactivity to Acetazolamide in Pediatric Moyamoya Vasculopathy.

Measurements of cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) are essential for treatment decisions in moyamoya vasculopathy (MMV). Since MMV patients are often young or cognitively impaired, anesthesia is commonly used to limit motion artifacts. Our aim was to investigate the effect of anesthesia on the CVR in pediatric MMV.

Introduction: Primary vaginal cancer is infrequent, corresponding to 1-2% of all female genital tract cancer diagnoses.Treatment for vaginal cancer varies depending on tumor histology, size, location and staging, and may include one or more of the following: surgical excision, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy. Background: It remains unclear whether revascularization of moyamoya vasculopathy (MMV) has a positive effect on cognitive function. In this prospective, single-center study, we investigated the effect of revascularization on cognitive function in patients with MMV. We report clinical and radiological outcome parameters and the associations between clinical determinants and change in neurocognitive functioning.

Prognosis of shoulder pain in those with and without a psychological disorder: A prospective cohort study with a six-month follow-up.

Background: Because shoulder pain can have an unfavorable prognosis, it is important to have a better understanding of factors that may influence recovery.

Objective: To determine the association between recovery from shoulder pain and the presence of depression, anxiety, and pain catastrophizing.
