Article Synopsis
  • - The study examined 325 sheep flocks and 119 goat herds across Greece to analyze the fat and protein content in bulk-tank raw milk and identify influencing factors.
  • - Average fat/protein levels were found to be higher in sheep (6.16% fat, 4.43% protein) compared to goats (4.77% fat, 3.23% protein), with various factors significantly affecting these contents, such as breed, management systems, and health treatment.
  • - Significant correlations were observed between high fat/protein content and factors like somatic cell counts, gastrointestinal parasites, and veterinary collaboration, indicating health issues like mastitis and parasitic infections play a crucial role in milk quality.
