Aptamer-Targeted Dendrimersomes Assembled from Azido-Modified Janus Dendrimers "Clicked" to DNA.

Amphiphilic Janus dendrimers (JDs), synthetic alternatives to lipids, have the potential to expand the scope of nanocarrier delivery systems. JDs self-assemble into vesicles called dendrimersomes, encapsulate both hydrophobic cargo and nucleic acids, and demonstrate enhanced stability in comparison to lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). Here, we report the ability to enhance the cellular uptake of Janus dendrimersomes using DNA aptamers.

Improved owner quality of life following surgical repair of canine myxomatous mitral valve disease.

Objective: To determine quality-of-life changes in owners of dogs undergoing mitral valve repair for myxomatous mitral valve disease, up to 12 months postoperatively.

Sample: Owners of 26 dogs undergoing mitral valve repair at a single UK veterinary referral hospital.

Methods: Dogs underwent mitral valve repair under cardiopulmonary bypass as previously described.

Impact of COVID-19 on patient experience of kidney care: a rapid review.

Introduction: In March 2020, a pandemic state was declared due to SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19). Patients with kidney disease, especially those on replacement therapies, proved more susceptible to severe infection. This rapid literature review aims to help understand how the pandemic impacted patient experience of kidney care.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on services for patients with chronic kidney disease: findings of a national survey of UK kidney centres.

Background: Services for patients with kidney disease underwent radical adaptations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We undertook an online national survey of UK kidney centres to understand the nature, range, and degree of variation in these changes and to explore factors contributing to differing practice.

Methods: The survey was designed by a multidisciplinary team of kidney professionals, service users and researchers.

Achieving consensus on psychosocial and physical rehabilitation management for people living with kidney disease.

Background: People living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) need to be able to live well with their condition. The provision of psychosocial interventions (psychological, psychiatric and social care) and physical rehabilitation management is variable across England, as well as the rest of the UK. There is a need for clear recommendations for standards of psychosocial and physical rehabilitation care for people living with CKD, and guidance for the commissioning and measurement of these services.
