Background: The recent approval of two anti-amyloid antibodies, Aducanamab and Lecanamab, have set the stage for the next generation of anti-amyloid treatments. Despite the capability of these treatments to lower Aβ brain levels, there is thus far limited clinical efficacy on cognitive outcomes. Because eligibility for treatment includes individuals with MCI or mild dementia, that often harbor mixed pathologies, the cognitive impact of other brain pathologies may be important.

This State of the Future Review describes and discusses the potential transformative power of digital twins in cardiac electrophysiology. In this 'big picture' approach, we explore the evolution of mechanistic modelling based digital twins, their current and immediate clinical applications, and envision a future where continuous updates, advanced calibration, and seamless data integration redefine clinical practice of cardiac electrophysiology. Our aim is to inspire researchers and clinicians to embrace the extraordinary possibilities that digital twins offer in the pursuit of precision medicine.

Background: This study examined electrical bioimpedance as a biomarker for intracochlear tissue changes after cochlear implant surgery, comparing monopolar, three-point, and four-point impedance measurements over time and evaluating different measurement systems and approaches.

Methods: Impedance measurements were obtained from 21 participants during surgery and at four postoperative stages. Monopolar impedances were recorded using the Bionic Ear Data Collection System (BEDCS) and the Active Insertion Monitoring (AIM) system.

Background: Lung computed tomography (CT) scan image registration is being used for lung function analysis such as ventilation. Given the high sensitivity of functional analyses to image registration errors, an image registration error scoring tool that can measure submillimeter image registration errors is needed.

Purpose: To propose an image registration error scoring tool, termed λ, whose spatial sensitivity can be used to quantify image registration errors in steep image gradient regions under realistic noise conditions.

Article Synopsis
  • - Patients with repaired tetralogy of Fallot are prone to ventricular tachycardia and sudden cardiac death, with most arrhythmias linked to specific slow-conducting areas in the heart known as SCAIs.
  • - The study compared a "prophylactic" approach, which involved ablating SCAIs regardless of whether VT was induced, to a "historical" approach that used VT induction to guide treatment, focusing on reducing complications and the need for implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs).
  • - Results showed that patients who underwent prophylactic ablation had no major arrhythmic events over a median follow-up of 21 months, whereas 29% of the historical group
