Otitis externa is one of the most common diseases in otorhinolaryngological practice frequently requiring prescription of analgesic medications and antimicrobials. The total of 2714 patients were included in the retrospective study to evaluate bacterial etiology, effectiveness, and safety of topical empirical treatment of patients with diagnosed otitis externa during 2018-2023. The most common pathogens isolated were (38.

Puromycin (Puro) is a natural aminonucleoside antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis by its incorporation into elongating peptide chains. The unique mechanism of Puro finds diverse applications in molecular biology, including the selection of genetically engineered cell lines, in situ protein synthesis monitoring, and studying ribosome functions. However, the key step of Puro biosynthesis remains enigmatic.

Background: Acute bacterial sinusitis is one of the most common causes of prescribing systemic antibacterial drugs in otorhinolaryngology. With bacterial etiology of the disease, beta-lactam antibiotics are prescribed, in particular cefixim. Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of vTAPP for small hernias compared to the IPOM technique.
  • A total of 179 patients were included, with vTAPP showing shorter hospital stays, fewer relapses, but slightly longer surgery times compared to IPOM.
  • The cost-effectiveness analysis indicated that vTAPP is significantly more profitable, making it a viable outpatient procedure that doesn't require special equipment.

Aim: To study the structure of the microbial landscape in patients with acute otitis externa, as well as to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the combined drug chloramphenicol/clotrimazole/beclomethasone/lidocaine (Candibiotic) as an empirical therapy of this disease.

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective study of real clinical practice, outpatient records of 963 patients who applied to the KDO of the Sverzhevsky Research Clinical Institute of Otorhinolaryngology with symptoms of otitis externa in the period from 2017 to 2022 were selected. Additional analysis was carried out on the clinical records of patients who received the combined drug Candibiotic.
