Expression of JAK/STAT signalling in bullous pemphigoid.

In the present study, we characterise the expression of JAK/STAT signalling in Bullous Pemphigoid (BP). Punch biopsy specimens of normal skin, lesional and perilesional skin of patients diagnosed with biopsy proven BP were utilised for immunoperoxidase labelling with commercially available antibodies for Phosphorylated STAT 1,2,3,5A and 6 (Genesearch, USA). Quantitative analysis demonstrated that in comparison to normal skin, phosphorylated STAT 2, 3, 5A and 6 were overexpressed in BP.

Metastatic testicular seminoma presenting as acute lower limb ischaemia.

We describe a unique presentation of acute lower limb ischaemia due to metastatic seminoma in a middle-aged man with a large retroperitoneal mass. The patient underwent vascular bypass surgery of the right lower limb, completed chemotherapy, and had a right scrotal orchiectomy. The patient had pre-existing vascular risk factors including peripheral vascular disease and smoking.

A case of pulmonary transthyretin amyloidosis with concurrent mycobacterial tuberculosis infection.

Amyloidosis is a pathological deposition disease that causes a spectrum of organ dysfunction. Pulmonary involvement is generally associated with immunoglobulin light chain type (AL) amyloid. Transthyretin (ATTR) amyloid build up in the lung is thought to be a senile disease observed usually as a finding at autopsy.

Increased STAT expression in Reed-Sternberg cells as a potential positive prognostication biomarker in Hodgkin lymphoma.

Classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) prognostication primarily relies on clinical and radiological factors. Despite this, a subset of patients still progress. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) based biomarkers on diagnostic tissue have not been routinely used for prognostication.
