Remembering change: Interdependence between change awareness and meaningful connection in achieving proactive facilitation.

Two experiments investigated proactive facilitation (PF) or proactive interference (PI) in the recall of recently learned targets, under conditions of assessing the detection and recollection of target changes across two learning phases (with A-B/A-D word pairs). Some changes established meaningful connections across the phases; others did not. Task instructions on the subsequent cued-recall test (Experiment 1) or during Phase 2 study (Experiment 2) guided participants (university students) to monitor and report the changes.

Renal impairment is prevalent in pediatric NAFLD/MASLD and associated with disease severity.

Objectives: Renal impairment is prevalent in adults with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD/metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease [MASLD]) and is associated with increased mortality. Pediatric data are limited. Our objective was to determine the prevalence of hyperfiltration or chronic kidney disease (CKD) in children with NAFLD/MASLD and determine links with liver disease severity.

Herbal and dietary supplement induced liver injury leading to hepatitis-associated severe aplastic anemia: A case report.

Herbal and dietary supplements (HDS) are a common etiology of drug induced liver injury and, specifically, Herbalife® supplements have been implicated. Hepatitis associated aplastic anemia (HAAA) is a rare and potentially fatal complication after acute hepatitis characterized by pancytopenia. While there have been rare cases of HDS leading to HAAA, no cases of Herbalife® induced liver injury leading to HAAA have been reported from this specific HDS.

Homozygous missense variants in YKT6 result in loss of function and are associated with developmental delay, with or without severe infantile liver disease and risk for hepatocellular carcinoma.

Purpose: YKT6 plays important roles in multiple intracellular vesicle trafficking events but has not been associated with Mendelian diseases.

Methods: We report 3 unrelated individuals with rare homozygous missense variants in YKT6 who exhibited neurological disease with or without a progressive infantile liver disease. We modeled the variants in Drosophila.
