Interventional radiology procedures, facilities, and workforce across England and Wales: a snapshot retrospective evaluation from 2017 to 2021.

Aims: There is no comprehensive data collection outlining the numbers and types of interventional radiology (IR) procedures in the United Kingdom. Similarly, limited data are available on the IR facilities and workforce within the National Health Services (NHS) trusts. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the number/type of IR procedures, facilities, and workforces across England and Wales.

A national survey of interventional radiology trainees on peripheral and aortic endovascular training.

Objectives: The development of technical skills in peripheral and aortic endovascular intervention is an essential part of interventional radiology (IR) training. Access to endovascular training remains contentious, with IR and vascular surgery (VS) trainees competing for opportunities. The Collaborative Peripheral and Aortic Endovascular Training Survey (CPAETS) aimed to evaluate IR trainees' experiences, expectations, and barriers to endovascular training.

Handling 'carbon footprint' in orthopaedics.

Introduction: The National Health Service contributes 4%-5% of England and Wales' greenhouse gases and a quarter of all public sector waste. Between 20% and 33% of healthcare waste originates from a hospital's operating room, and up to 90% of waste is sent for costly and unneeded hazardous waste processing. The goal of this study was to quantify the amount and type of waste produced during a selection of common trauma and elective orthopaedic operations, and to calculate the carbon footprint of processing the waste.
