Serine/threonine protein kinase C (PKC) is activated by diacylglycerol that is released from membrane lipids by phospholipase C in response to activation of G protein-coupled receptors or receptor tyrosine kinases. PKC isoforms are particularly relevant for proliferation and differentiation of cells including osteoblasts. Osteoblasts/osteocytes produce fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), a hormone regulating renal phosphate and vitamin D handling.

Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) is a cytokine produced by many cell types and implicated in cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, and inflammation. It stimulates store-operated calcium entry (SOCE) through the calcium release-activated calcium (CRAC) channel Orai1/Stim1 in endometrial Ishikawa cells. Bone cells generate fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 23, which inhibits renal phosphate reabsorption and 1,25(OH)D formation in concert with its co-receptor Klotho.

A fast GC with tandem MS method was developed and validated for multiresidue determination of 95 chemical contaminants (24 synthetic pyrethroids, 17 organochlorines, 17 organophosphorus compounds, 18 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and 19 polychlorinated biphenyls) in Indian prawns (Fenneropenaeus indicus) as per the European Union maximum residual limit requirements. Chromatographic separation and MS determination were achieved within a short run time of 18 min, without compromising sensitivity and specificity. Our findings revealed a 2.

Rapid species diversifications provide fascinating insight into the development of biodiversity in time and space. Most biological radiations studied to date, for example that of cichlid fishes or Andean lupines, are confined to isolated geographical areas like lakes, islands or island-like regions. Using DNA sequence data of the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) for many species of the Poa alliance, a group comprising about 775 C3 grass species, revealed rapid and parallel diversifications in various parts of the world.

Our aim is to present a new method to examine spinal mobility and spine shape excluding torsional scoliosis. In comparison to measuring devices of the spine used so far, this noninvasive and easy to use method documents altered patterns of intervertebral mobility of the lumbar and thoracic spine. This may lead to a broader application of the triflexometer as a diagnostic tool for orthopedic and rheumatologic diseases that can decrease the frequency of X-ray exposure if used in combination with radiographs.
