Purpose: Thromboembolic complications due to COVID-19 are common in patients requiring critical care and are associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. The aim of this study was to evaluate clinical manifestations and postoperative outcomes after colectomy for COVID-19-associated colonic ischemia in the first versus the second wave of the pandemic.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study of patients with severe COVID-19 at our institution between 1 March 2020 and 31 January 2021 was performed.

Objectives: Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a plasticizer used in many polyvinylchloride medical devices and is washed out easily. Thereby critically ill infants can become exposed to DEHP concentrations significantly exceeding the recommended threshold. Consequently, allelic typing of these loci is strongly recommended for the unrelated stem cell donor selection. In this study, the HLA-DRB1,3,4,5 and -DQB1 alleles of 231 patients and their corresponding 821 nonrandom potential stem cell donors were determined to define compatible donor/recipient pairs.

Since CB represents a limited and expensive resource it demands an optimal allocation. Optimal CB allocation can not be optimal based solely on 'first come - first serve' basis, since frequently several CB specimens are simultaneously suitable for more than one patient.
