HIV-1 and HIV-2 infections in men attending sexually transmitted disease clinics in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

Objective: (1) To determine the prevalence of HIV-1 and HIV-2 infections and associated risk factors in men attending Abidjan's three sexually transmitted disease (STD) clinics; (2) to examine the use of such sites for epidemiological surveillance.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Setting: Abidjan's two main STD clinics (Clinics A and T), and the University Hospital Dermatology outpatients clinic.

Ceftriaxone in the treatment of chancroid.

The treatment of non-complicated or complicated (by a bubo) chancroid with 1 single i.m. injection of 250 mg ceftriaxone gave excellent results.

The cutaneous localization of bilharziosis are infrequent. In a country of endemic disease, the Ivory Coast, where about 10 p. 100 of the population suffer from bilharziosis, it has been observed, between 1970 and 1980, 14 cases of cutaneous bilharziosis which have been diagnosed by micropathology.
