Objective: To assess the mid-term outcomes of utilizing bovine pericardium patch (BPP) compared to great saphenous vein patch (GSVP) in femoral angioplasty for iliofemoral occlusive diseases.

Methods: A retrospective study was carried out at the First Medical Center of the Chinese PLA General Hospital from January 2013 to July 2023 to assess the efficacy of femoral angioplasty in patients with iliofemoral occlusive disease. Technical success, early outcomes, 24-month primary patency, and freedom from restenosis at the patch site were evaluated.

Accurate imaging of tumor hypoxia is critical for early cancer diagnosis and clinical outcomes, highlighting the great need for its detection specificity and sensitivity. In this report, we propose a probe (HTRNP) that simultaneously has hypoxia-targeting and hypoxia-responsive capabilities to enhance the tumor hypoxia imaging efficiency. HTRNP was successfully prepared through the encapsulation of Pt(II)-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrin (PtPFPP), which exhibits hypoxia-dependent phosphorescence, within the amphiphilic block copolymer OPDMA-PF, which has hypoxia-targeting tertiary amine -oxide moieties and hydrophobic perfluorobenzene ring structures, which highly improved the loading content and water solubility of PtPFPP.

As an essential micronutrient, phosphorus plays a key role in oceanic biogeochemistry, with its cycling intimately connected to the global carbon cycle and climate change. Authigenic carbonate fluorapatite (CFA) has been suggested to represent a significant phosphorus sink in the deep ocean, but its formation mechanisms in oceanic low-productivity settings remain poorly constrained. Applying X-ray absorption near edge structure, transmission electron microscopy, and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer analyses, we report a unique mineral assemblage where CFA crystals coat phillipsite in abyssal sediments of the East Mariana Basin and the Philippine Sea.

During cold acclimation in high-latitude and high-altitude regions, japonica rice develops enhanced cold tolerance, but the underlying genetic basis remains unclear. Here, we identify CTB5, a homeodomain-leucine zipper (HD-Zip) transcription factor that confers cold tolerance at the booting stage in japonica rice. Four natural variations in the promoter and coding regions enhance cold response and transcriptional regulatory activity, enabling the favorable CTB5 allele to improve cold tolerance.
