Halogen Bonding in N-Alkyl-Bromo-/Lodo-Pyridinium Salts and its Application in Chromatography.

The alkylation of 3-/4-bromo- and -iodopyridine with methyl triflate smoothly affords the corresponding N-methylpyridinium triflate salts. An anion exchange with NaI or [PPh]Y (Y=Cl, Br, I) yields the corresponding halide salts. Most of them could be structurally characterized and their strong halogen bonds were investigated.

Patient Safety and the COVID-19 Pandemic in Germany: A Repeated Population-Based Cross-Sectional Survey.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has presented Germany with major challenges and has led to concerns about patient safety. We conducted an observational, population-based, nationwide, repeated cross-sectional survey on patient safety in Germany in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Each of the three samples consisted of 1000 randomly recruited adults.

[Patient perspectives on patient safety: Results of a population-based survey in Germany].

Introduction: The growing number of people with multimorbidity and polypharmacy in Germany has led to increasing complexity in health care and risks to patient safety. A high priority should therefore be placed on identifying and preventing avoidable adverse events. The patient perspective plays an important role in improving patient safety.

Soluble ST2 and galectin-3 in pediatric patients without heart failure.

Objectives: Soluble ST2 (ST2) and galectin-3 (Gal3) are biomarkers of myocardial fibrosis and remodeling. This study provides a foundation for the use of ST2 and Gal3 in pediatric patients by assessing values of these biomarkers among children without heart failure.

Design And Methods: Sera from 240 children, 40 males and 40 females from each of three age groups, (2-6 years, 7-11 years, and 12-17 years) without heart failure were identified from residual clinical testing.
