[Trichobezoar as a rare cause of ileus of the small intestine].

For several weeks a 15-year-old girl had complained of increasing abdominal pain with vomiting. On admission to hospital the bloated abdomen was diffusely sensitive to pressure and the bowel sounds were high pitched and loud. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate was increased to 23/40 mm and the white cell count to 12,000/microliters.

[Venous end-to-end anastomosis with non-absorbable and absorbable screw flange rings].

Forty veno-venous anastomoses performed on femoral blood vessels of dogs showed good results using a new flange ring system. In 15 cases Palacos rings were used for the anastomoses. Follow-up studies during a period of 8 days to 1 1/2 years showed only one occlusion.

[Treatment of malignant lesions of the esophagus with the thermoprobe].

In inoperable stenosing tumours of the oesophagus the problem arises of maintaining oral food intake. As malignant cells are more cold-sensitive than normal cells oesophageal tumours may be "cold-coagulated" with special probes. Preliminary results with this treatment in 28 patients are reported.

[Juxtapapillary diverticula of the duodenum and bilio-pancreatic symptoms (author's transl)].

Juxtapapillary diverticula of the duodenum are more frequent than has been assumed up to now. Among 2100 patients undergoing duodenoscopy 135 duodenal diverticula have been found. These diverticula may cause symptoms of diverculitis as well as of bilio-pancreatic disease.
