A Low-Cost, Open-Source 3D Printer for Multimaterial and High-Throughput Direct Ink Writing of Soft and Living Materials.

Direct ink writing is a 3D printing method that is compatible with a wide range of structural, elastomeric, electronic, and living materials, and it continues to expand its uses into physics, engineering, and biology laboratories. However, the large footprint, closed hardware and software ecosystems, and expense of commercial systems often hamper widespread adoption. This work introduces a compact, low-cost, multimaterial, and high-throughput direct ink writing 3D printer platform with detailed assembly files and instructions provided freely online.

Machine learning-optimized targeted detection of alternative splicing.

RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) is widely adopted for transcriptome analysis but has inherent biases that hinder the comprehensive detection and quantification of alternative splicing. To address this, we present an efficient targeted RNA-seq method that greatly enriches for splicing-informative junction-spanning reads. Local splicing variation sequencing (LSV-seq) utilizes multiplexed reverse transcription from highly scalable pools of primers anchored near splicing events of interest.

Statin Use and Hyperglycemia: Do Statins Cause Diabetes?

Purpose Of Review: Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and diabetes are leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the United States and globally. Statin medications, a cornerstone of ASCVD prevention and treatment strategies, have been demonstrated to cause hyperglycemia and new onset diabetes mellitus (NODM). The purpose of this review is to summarize existing and emerging knowledge around the intersection of statins and these two important clinical problems.

Glucosinolates (GSLs) are secondary metabolites in Brassicaceae plants and play a defensive role against a variety of abiotic and biotic stresses. Also, it exhibits anti-cancer activity against cancer cell in human. Different profiles of aliphatic GSL compounds between radish and Chinese cabbage were previously reported.
