Article Synopsis
  • High-intensity physical activity was studied as a treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD) in a rat model, focusing on its effects before and after PD was induced.
  • A total of 70 Wistar rats were divided into groups based on their exercise routines (trained before, after, or both) and compared to sedentary control groups.
  • Results indicated that rats engaging in high-intensity exercise showed a greater number of neurons and astrocytes in key brain regions compared to those that did not exercise, suggesting potential benefits of physical activity for PD treatment.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro cytotoxic, genotoxic, and mutagenic potential and to determine the in silico ADME parameters of two synthetic β-carboline alkaloids developed as prototypes of antitumor agents (NQBio-06 and NQBio-21). Additionally, acute toxicity of the compounds was evaluated in mice. The results from the MTT assay showed that NQBio-06 presented higher cytotoxicity in the ovarian cancer cell line TOV-21 G (IC = 2.

Ovarian puncture has been widely used in assisted reproduction, but there are still gaps about its effects on ovarian morphophysiology, as well as the relationship between inflammation caused by this procedure and the follicular growth and fertility. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ovarian puncture on folliculogenesis and fertility. Mice (n = 24) were divided into two groups: (1) SHAM-both ovaries were exposed and repositioned and (2) Punctured-ovaries were exposed, punctured, and repositioned.

Naproxen reduces the production of prostaglandins via inhibition of the cyclooxygenase. Studies have shown that its administration in women can be related to failed ovulation. Therefore, preclinical investigations must be performed in order to investigate its effects in experimental models.

Fetal programming suggests that maternal stimulation and nutrition during the period of fetal development can program the progeny. Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), an isomer of linoleic acid, has been characterized in several aspects, but few studies have been performed on its involvement in reproduction and fetal programming. The aim of this study was to evaluate the F1, F2 and F3 progeny of female mice supplemented with CLA during the pregestational and gestational periods with respect to biometric and reproductive parameters, as well as ovarian morphophysiology.
