Electrical spin switching in an antiferromagnet is one of the key issues for both academic interest and industrial demand in new-type spin devices because an antiferromagnetic system has a negligible stray field due to an alternating sign between sub-lattices, in contrast to a ferromagnetic system. Naturally, questions arise regarding how fast and, simultaneously, how robustly the magnetization can be switched by external stimuli, e.g.

These are some instances of nonsexual exploitation that I have become aware of over the past several years. Some of them have resulted in complaints to various ethics committees, but most have not. Many colleagues are unaware that such behavior is in any way unethical.

Because of the asphericity of the cornea, proper ophthalmometry requires the visual axis of the eye, the optical axis of the ophthalmometer, and the corneal apex to be coincident. The animal subject and the human patient cannot always direct their visual axis to the axis of the instrument. This paper describes the attachment of a photographer's tripod pan arm to the Haag Streit ophthalmometer and the method devised, which allows accurate corneal curvature measurement in cases of nonfixating subjects.

Flurbiprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAI) agent currently undergoing clinical investigation. Anti-inflammatory steroids have long been known to delay the healing of corneal stromal wounds. This was designed to compare the effects of equipotent anti-inflammatory doses of flurbiprofen and of prednisolone acetate on the inflammation and the healing (as measured by the wound bursting pressure) or 4-mm through-and-through incisions treated four times a day for ten postoperative days.

This study demonstrated that increases of corneal curvature in living rabbits could be induced through the application of heated brass rings. The peak increase averaged 10.5 D in a series of 19 eyes, as compared to the nontreated fellow eyes.
