Direct visualization of the small hydrophobic protein of human respiratory syncytial virus reveals the structural basis for membrane permeability.

Human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract disease in infants. The HRSV small hydrophobic (SH) protein plays an important role in HRSV pathogenesis, although its mode of action is unclear. Analysis of the ability of SH protein to induce membrane permeability and form homo-oligomers suggests it acts as a viroporin.

Efficacy and safety of a novel combination of L-arginine glutamate and yohimbine hydrochloride: a new oral therapy for erectile dysfunction.

Purpose: The goal of this double-blind, placebo-controlled, three-way crossover, randomized clinical trial was to compare the efficacy and safety of the combination of 6g of L-arginine glutamate and 6 mg of yohimbine hydrochloride (AY) with that of 6 mg of yohimbine hydrochloride (YP) alone and that of placebo (PP) alone, for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED).

[Angioscopy and the surgical treatment of varices in the area of the external saphenous vein].

The study of post-surgical relapses, by ultrasound and phlebographic examinations, shows that the difficulties in the treatment of varices of the external saphena territory are of two types: anatomical and haemodynamic. The venous endoscopy answers precisely to the requirements of the surgical treatment of varices of the popliteal space. It offers an acceptable compromise between aesthetics and efficacy, thanks to the incisions centred on the transcutaneous luminal point.

[Reoperation on valve bioprostheses. Apropos of 64 cases].

Sixty-four patients with one or more bioprostheses were reoperated between 1970 and 1982. Reoperation was performed for degenerative lesions in cases (48%), for aseptic periprosthetic leaks in 18 cases (28%), for infectious lesions in 13 cases (21%) and for thrombosis in 2 cases (3%). Degenerative and infectious lesions were commoner in aortic bioprostheses whilst periprosthetic leaks were commoner in mitral bioprostheses.
