Oncotherapy can shape intestinal microbiota, which, in turn, may influence therapy effectiveness. Furthermore, microbiome signatures during treatments can be leveraged for the development of personalised therapeutic protocols in cancer treatment based on the identification of microbiota profiles as prognostic tools. Here, for the first time, the trajectory of gut and salivary microbiota in a patient treated with Larotrectinib, a targeted therapy approved for diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase () gene fusion-positive, has been accurately investigated.

Background: Hemophilia B is a rare bleeding disorder in males, characterized by a deficiency in coagulation factor IX (FIX). Replacement of FIX with a recombinant FIX (rFIX) fusion protein, to sustain therapeutic plasma levels, is recommended as both treatment and prophylaxis to prevent bleeding episodes, particularly intracranial hemorrhage (ICH).

Case Presentation: This case report outlines the management of ICH in a 7-month-old infant with severe hemophilia B, following an accidental trauma-related event, resulting in a thin compound fracture of the left occiput.

Unlabelled: Rapid identification of methicillin-susceptible (MSSA) bacteremia may optimize antibiotic use and clinical outcomes. The study objective was to assess the impact of the BioFire® blood culture identification (BCID) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) panel on antibiotic use and clinical outcomes in patients with MSSA bacteremia. This was a retrospective chart review of adult inpatients with MSSA bacteremia during the pre-PCR (June 2018-December 2019) and post-PCR (June 2020-December 2021) implementation periods.

Article Synopsis
  • Transfusion-dependent beta thalassemia (TDT) is a genetic disorder leading to low hemoglobin levels, which can cause serious heart issues such as myocardial iron overload (MIO) and myocardial fibrosis (MF); CMR is the standard for assessing these conditions but is costly and not widely available.
  • A study involving 44 TDT patients compared the effectiveness of Left Ventricular Global Longitudinal Strain (LV GLS) from Speckle Tracking Echocardiography (STE) to CMR techniques, finding that while CMR identified MIO in 18% and MF in 11% of patients, LV GLS showed significant differences based on the presence of MIO and MF.
  • Results indicated that LV GLS STE could
