The growing demand for psychiatric care raises questions about the place and value of alternatives to hospitalization. Community-based intensive care, such as home-based intensive care teams, are models that have been extensively studied and precisely described in international literature. They make it possible to avoid or shorten hospital stays, and have interesting variations for providing access to care in rural areas.

The study was performed at Charles River Labs in King of Prussia, PA. Greater than 900 L/m(2) filter throughput was achieved with the approximately 8 g/L monoclonal antibody feed.

In psychiatry, psychiatric advance directives (PADs) can be used for patients with chronic psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, or a bipolar disorder. PADs give the patient an opportunity to state wishes in advance about his/her treatment when he/she is in an acute state of illness.

The putting in place of treatment is often delayed because it is difficult to identify early schizophrenic disorders. At this stage of the illness, the doctor participates as much as the family and the patients themselves in the delay of the diagnosis.
