Background And Purpose: Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with M2 segment occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) is debatable. This study assessed the efficacy, safety, and functional outcomes of EVT in M2 occlusion patients, examining differences in outcomes based on the dominance of the occluded segment (DomM2 vs. Non-DomM2).

Patients attending the emergency department (ED) with cervical inflammatory/infectious symptoms or presenting masses that may involve the aerodigestive tract or vascular structures require a contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) scan of the neck. Its radiological interpretation is hampered by the anatomical complexity and pathophysiological interrelationship between the different component systems in a relatively small area. Recent studies propose a systematic evaluation of the cervical structures, using a 7-item checklist, to correctly identify the pathology and detect incidental findings that may interfere with patient management.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examined how the placement of bone conduction implants (BCIs) and the use of advanced MRI techniques affect the quality of head MRI scans, focusing on two BCI models: BCI601 and BCI602.
  • - Using human head specimens, the researchers found that the MAVRIC metal artifact reduction sequence significantly improved image quality compared to standard T2 scans, enabling better visualization of structures like the internal auditory canal (IAC).
  • - Results indicated that the BCI602, particularly when placed in the middle fossa, minimized image artifacts more effectively than the BCI601, allowing clearer imaging of the ipsilateral IAC with improved outcomes overall.

Background: Facial nerve tumors (FNTs) are relatively rare benign lesions that arise from any segment of the facial nerve (FN). About half of all patients present with FN dysfunction, mainly long-standing or progressive facial paralysis. Diagnosis of an FNT is usually based on radiological imaging and confirmed by histological study.
