Chromosome alignment on the metaphase plate is a conserved phenomenon and is an essential function for correct chromosome segregation for many organisms. Organisms with naturally-occurring trivalent chromosomes provide a useful system for understanding how chromosome alignment is evolutionarily regulated, as they align on the spindle with one kinetochore facing one pole and two facing the opposite pole. Article Synopsis
  • The study created age-specific charts for micronutrient levels in healthy children to improve diagnosis and treatment in sick kids.
  • These charts included measurements for zinc, copper, magnesium, selenium, and specific B vitamins from blood samples.
  • Results showed that age affects micronutrient levels, with significant differences in children with Crohn's disease, indicating that RBC measurements could be more reliable for tracking deficiencies in inflammatory conditions.
