Essential oils have various properties, of which the most useful in cosmetics are those that do not cause irritation, smell pleasant, and have other beneficial properties such as antimicrobial effects.

Poloxamer-Based Mixed Micelles Loaded with Thymol or Eugenol for Topical Applications.

Poloxamers (P184, P188, and P407) have been investigated as the carrier system for eugenol or thymol. A synergic effect of mixed Poloxamers was proved by enhanced micellar parameters, with a lower critical micelle concentration (about 0.06 mM) and the highest surface adsorption of 9 × 10 mol m for P188/P407.

Association of aflatoxin with gallbladder cancer in a case-control study nested within a Chinese cohort.

We evaluated whether aflatoxin B (AFB ) exposure was associated with later risk of developing gallbladder cancer (GBC). We measured AFB -lysine albumin adducts in baseline samples from the Shanghai Cohort Study of 18 244 men aged 45 to 64 years (recruited 1986-1989). We included 84 GBC cases with sufficient serum and 168 controls matched on age at sample collection, date of blood draw and residence.

The Effect of Cosmetic Treatment and Gel Laser Therapy on the Improvement of Comedogenic Skin Type.

Comedogenic skin care receives little attention compared to the care or treatment of more serious acne manifestations. Traditional therapies may have limited success with potential side effects. Cosmetic care supported by the effect of a biostimulating laser may offer a desirable alternative.

Antimicrobial hand gels have become extremely popular in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Frequent use of hand sanitising gel can lead to dryness and irritation of the skin. This work focuses on the preparation of antimicrobial acrylic acid (Carbomer)-based gels enhanced by non-traditional compounds-mandelic acid and essential oils-as a substitute for irritating ethanol.
