A high-performance Driver State Monitoring (DSM) application for the detection of driver drowsiness is presented in this paper. The popular Ensemble of Regression Trees (ERTs) machine learning method has been employed for the alignment of 68 facial landmarks. Open-source implementation of ERTs for facial shape alignment has been ported to different platforms and adapted for the acceleration of the frame processing speed using reconfigurable hardware.

Background: The number of dendritic cells (DC) in the local tumor environment correlates with patient survival in numerous tumors. The relationship of DC infiltration in the tumor microenvironment and prognosis was examined in patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Methods: Forty-seven pancreatectomy specimens with a diagnosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma were identified retrospectively and analyzed with the dendritic cell markers S-100 and CD1a.

The myofibroblast is an ultrastructurally and metabolically distinctive connective tissue cell identified as a key participant in tissue remodeling in human granulation tissue, organ fibrosis, and the fibroblastic host response to malignant neoplasms. In this study of myofibroblasts in human lung diffuse alveolar damage (DAD), we identified 36 autopsy cases in which DAD could be histologically documented. DAD is known to progress from initial injury through an exudative, proliferative, and terminal fibrotic phase.
