In the field of conservation of cultural heritage, one must always consider the environmental conditions in which the works of art are located and the level of atmospheric pollution to which they are exposed, especially in the case of monuments stored outdoors. The present study is focused on the detection and the quantification of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in black crust samples from the Monumental Cemetery of Milan (Italy), and the assessment of their sources through the analysis of the distributions of the different compounds in the samples, together with the use of diagnostic ratios. Six black crust samples taken from funerary monuments were analyzed.

Aim: Bacterial biofilms can form on surfaces in hospitals, clinics, farms, and food processing plants, representing a possible source of infections and cross-contamination. This study investigates the effectiveness of new commercial wipes against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms (early attachment and formed biofilms), assessing LH SALVIETTE wipes (Lombarda H S.r.

We present a review of the latest framework achievements in geoarchaeological sciences applied to microstratigraphic and biomolecular studies of prehistoric archaeological contexts, highlighting the importance of musealized archaeological stratigraphies. We assess how today's scientific and technological accomplishments can be tailored for archaeological human ecology studies with analytical ensembles that provide unprecedented results. Sampling and processing workflows originating from resin consolidation and thin section micromorphology of undisturbed blocks of archaeological soils and sediments, guarantee subsampling accuracy at the micrometre scale granting access to individual components otherwise impossible to target: the achievable information yield makes even the smallest soil samples potential sources of pioneering discoveries.

This study is focused on the identification of pollutant sources on black crust (BC) samples from the Monumental Cemetery of Milan (Italy), through a multi-analytical approach based on the determination of stable isotope ratios of carbon, sulphur, and oxygen. Six black crust samples, mainly developed on marble sculptures over a time span of 100-150 years, were analysed. For the first time, δC was measured for BC samples: δC values of the pulverized samples (from -1.

The imbalance in skin microbiota is characterized by an increased number of pathogens in respect to commensal microorganisms. Starting from a skin microbiota collection, the aim of this work was to evaluate the possible role of Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) Peel Extract (PPE) in restoring the skin microbiota balance acting on Staphylococcus spp.
