Enhancing door-to-door waste collection forecasting through ML.

We explore the application of machine learning (ML) techniques to forecast door-to-door waste collection, addressing the challenges in municipal solid waste (MSW) management. ML models offer a promising solution to optimize waste collection operations, especially amid growing urban populations and evolving waste generation rates. Leveraging comprehensive data from a northeastern Italian municipality, including various waste types, our study investigates ML algorithms' efficacy in predicting household waste collection requirements.

Web-GIS oriented systems viability for municipal solid waste selective collection optimization in developed and transient economies.

Municipal solid waste management is a multidisciplinary activity that includes generation, source separation, storage, collection, transfer and transport, processing and recovery, and, last but not least, disposal. The optimization of waste collection, through source separation, is compulsory where a landfill based management must be overcome. In this paper, a few aspects related to the implementation of a Web-GIS based system are analyzed.

Severe HDL-c reduction during rosiglitazone therapy in an obese woman with type 2 diabetes.

Treatment with rosiglitazone has been associated with severe paradoxical HDL-c reductions. To our knowledge, there are very few reports of this reaction occurring when patients are treated without the combination of a fibrate. A case of severe HDL-c lowering in a patient treated with rosiglitazone without a fibrate is presented.

The hospital-centered trend that has dominated medical culture and the management of health care during this entire century has, in the last few years, undergone a reversal in Italy. Conditions in other countries suggest that similar changes have or will become increasingly common. The family physician today manages many of the functions previously handled by hospitals and specialists.
