Economic impact of chicken diseases and other causes of morbidity or mortality in backyard farms in low-income and middle-income countries: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Backyard chicken farming is usually subsistence and predominates in low-income countries and, to a lesser extent, in middle-income countries. Chicken flocks are generally raised by households in a low-input, low-output system in contact with other flocks, livestock, and wildlife. This low biosecurity setting predisposes chickens to diseases and injuries.

Characterization of bioaerosol exposures in wastewater treatment plant workers and serum levels of lung and inflammatory markers.

Wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) workers are exposed to bioaerosols containing bacteria, fungi, and endotoxin, potentially posing health risks to workers. This study quantified personal exposure levels to airborne bacteria and fungi, endotoxin, and dust among 44 workers during two seasons at four WWTPs. Associations between the exposure measurements and serum levels of biomarkers CRP, SAA, and CC16 were also assessed.

Patterns and predictors of multiple sclerosis phenotype transition.

Currently, there are limited therapeutic options for patients with non-active secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. Therefore, real-world studies have investigated differences between patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, non-active secondary progressive multiple sclerosis and active secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. Building a holistic health approach in supported housing for people with intellectual disabilities in Denmark.

People with intellectual disabilities (IDs) face health issues and barriers to physical activity. Health promotion programmes targeting this group are often short-term. Few programmes have been designed for people with IDs who live in supported housing staffed by social care workers (SCWs).

Background: Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a rare cerebrovascular disorder marked by internal carotid artery narrowing, collateral neovascularization, and symptomatic cerebral ischemia. Select patients can benefit from direct bypass (superficial temporal artery [STA]-proximal middle [MCA] bypass) by restoring blood flow to hypoperfused territories. Symptomatic contralateral stroke (CS) following STA-MCA bypass is a devastating, poorly understood complication.
