Twelve patients whose ages ranged between 19 and 36 years, were studied. The gestational ages were between the 35th and the 39th week of pregnancy. The exercise performed was the one proposed by Kemp and Ellested.

External fetal electrocardiography was performed in three groups of normal pregnant patients delivered of normal newborn infants. Maternal and fetal heart rates were compared and maternal heart rates in the three trimesters were analyzed. Mean heart rates, as well as standard deviations of the three groups, were compared in mother and fetus.
