Unlabelled: The Current deposit is hosted by serpentinized peridotite that intruded rocks of the Quetico Subprovince in the Midcontinent Rift, and is subdivided into three morphologically distinct regions - the shallow and thin Current-Bridge Zone in the northwest, the deep and thick 437-Southeast Anomaly (SEA) Zone in the southeast, and the thick Beaver-Cloud Zone in the middle. The magma parental to the Current deposit became saturated in sulfide as a result of the addition of external S from at least two sources - a deep source characterized by high ΔS (< 3‰) values, and a shallow source, potentially the Archean metasedimentary country rocks, characterized by low ΔS (< 0.3‰).

Exploitable or potentially exploitable deposits of critical metals, such as rare-earth (REE) and high-field-strength elements (HFSE), are commonly associated with alkaline or peralkaline igneous rocks. However, the origin, transport and concentration of these metals in peralkaline systems remains poorly understood. This study presents the results of a mineralogical and geochemical investigation of the Na-metasomatism of alkali amphiboles and clinopyroxenes from a barren peralkaline granite pluton in NE China, to assess the remobilization and redistribution of REE and HFSE during magmatic-hydrothermal evolution.

We report an analysis of in vitro growth characteristics of leukaemic cells from five patients with t(6;9)(p23;q34). Consistent with other reports of this abnormality, our patients were comparatively young (median age at diagnosis, 29 years), and responded poorly to conventional treatment (median survival from diagnosis, 10 months). During active disease the CFU-GM growth patterns were characterized by an abundance of granulocytic aggregates (mostly 20-100 cells in size) whose leukaemic origin was confirmed by cytogenetic analysis.

Cytogenetic deletions involving the long arm of chromosome 20 are thought to be characteristic of myeloid disorders. We report clinical and cytogenetic observations of two adult patients with Philadelphia chromosome positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia: one with a smaller 20q deletion that was the sole cytogenetic abnormality in a persisting remission clone, the other with a larger 20q deletion that was a late addition to the leukemic clone at disease relapse following allogeneic bone marrow transplantation.
