We have analyzed the relationship between the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (type 2) and socio-economic status of patients. The cross-sectional study included 79,855 patients registered in Belgium capitation-fee primary health care centers. The adjusted prevalence for age and gender was 6.

The names of health houses vary from one country to another and according to the specific organizational history of healthcare provision. Yet their current mode of organization and the type of services which they make available to the public largely tend to converge. One of their shared objectives is for health houses to constitute "a first line" of health and healthcare provision, amidst a general crisis of general medical practice but also among paramedical workers.

Between July 1993 and March 1994, advertising in the personal columns of local print media was used as a subterfuge to obtain access to homosexually active men living on the Central Coast of New South Wales. The men were invited to make contact by phone and were then requested to answer 44 survey questions. The survey was based on a premise that there existed a subgroup of homosexually active men who did not identify themselves as gay and who were behaviourally bisexual (the study population).
