In this paper, we report the psychological and emotional experience of a patient who regained vision after over a decade of vision loss. The negative psychological implications of blindness are well recognised and there is a robust link between visual impairment and low mood and depressive symptoms. Although uncommon, low mood and depressive symptoms have been reported in patients whose sight has been restored, and lack of research gives rise to the possibility their prevalence may be grossly under-recognised in such patient groups.
