The Chin Wing is a modified genioplasty extended along the basilar border and the angles of the mandible. This technique may be a better choice than standard genioplasty for correction of lip incompetence, retrogenia and high angle position associated with hyperdivergent cases. Our objective was to analyse the overall movement realized during surgery and the long-term stability of this procedure.

The aesthetic and functional success of mandibular advancement surgery often depends on the quality of the orthodontic preparation that preceded it. In order to be optimal, this preparation must try to reproduce a class II malocclusion equivalent to the sagittal skeletal discrepancy, to allow a surgical procedure of sufficient amplitude. The aim of this article is to present, thanks to a clinical case, a new mandibular posterior anchorage device, called Abalakov, used in the context of these preparations.

We use currently 3 types of new mandibular osteotomies (a shortened Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy (BSSO), associated or not with Chin Wing or Mini Wing). The mini wing is a variant of the chin wing osteotomy. Its design extends from the chin region to the horizontal branch of the mandible as in a traditional chin wing. However, the posterior most cut ends on the upper part of the mandibular notch.
